How to use Nori with Subconscious

Set up Nori to use Subconscious as its model provider.

Subconscious is an inference API for agents. It serves open models through OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible endpoints, billed per token.

- API key: read it from the SUBCONSCIOUS_API_KEY environment variable. Never commit the key or paste it into project files. If it is not set, ask me to create one at https://platform.subconscious.dev.

Follow these steps. Run commands and edit files yourself. For any step in a settings screen, tell me exactly what to click and what to enter.

1. Create a Subconscious API key
Sign in at https://platform.subconscious.dev and create an API key. You will paste it into the settings screen below.

2. Connect OpenCode to Subconscious
In your organization dashboard (<org>.norisessions.com), open Integrations and choose OpenCode. Nori writes the OpenCode configuration onto each session machine. pi-acp takes the same three fields.

   - API key: Your Subconscious API key
   - Model: subconscious/glm-5.3-marathon

3. Enable the agent in Fleet Setup
Open Fleet Setup, add OpenCode to the enabled agents, and make it the default agent. The default is Claude Code, so sessions keep using it until you change this.

4. Start a session
Start a session from Slack, Discord, the web dashboard, a schedule or a webhook. The agent runs in an isolated cloud machine and calls Subconscious for every model request.

To use Nori with Subconscious, open Integrations in your Nori dashboard and connect OpenCode (or pi-acp) with the compatible API base URL https://api.subconscious.dev/v1, your Subconscious API key and the model subconscious/glm-5.3-marathon. Enable that agent in Fleet Setup, and Nori sessions run on Subconscious.

Questions

Does Nori provide the model?
No. Nori runs and coordinates coding agents; you connect the credential each agent needs. OpenCode and pi-acp take any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, which is how Subconscious plugs in.
Can Claude Code or Codex in Nori use Subconscious?
Nori's documented credential options for those agents are an Anthropic or OpenAI API key or an OAuth login, not a custom endpoint. Use OpenCode or pi-acp to run Nori sessions on Subconscious.
Is Nori open source?
The Nori CLI and Nori Skillsets are open source (tilework-tech on GitHub). Nori Sessions, the managed cloud product, is not.
Which Subconscious model should I use with Nori?
Start with subconscious/glm-5.3-marathon, an open frontier coding model built for long agent runs. subconscious/deepseek-v4.1-flash-marathon is a cheaper, high-throughput alternative that also takes image input. Use the full model ID, including the subconscious/ prefix.
Is Nori on Subconscious OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible?
This guide connects Nori through the OpenAI-compatible Subconscious API. Subconscious serves both formats: OpenAI Chat Completions at https://api.subconscious.dev/v1 and Anthropic Messages at https://api.subconscious.dev.
How is Nori usage on Subconscious billed?
Per token by default, with no commitment. Heavy users can switch to a monthly token plan: a fixed price for a large daily token allowance shared across your team.
