Amazon Bedrock vs Dolphin: key differences

Bedrock wraps Claude, GPT-6 Astra, Nova, DeepSeek and others in IAM, PrivateLink, KMS encryption and CloudTrail logging, with on-demand, batch and provisioned throughput billing. Dolphin's API launched in October 2026 with one model, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, at $0.01 in and $0.07 out per million, served on idle consumer GPUs. Requests are encrypted end to end and nodes cannot log them, but there is no published speed, context or SLA, and signup runs through a crypto wallet and Telegram.

Bedrock suits regulated enterprises and anything that has to pass procurement. Dolphin suits cost-first background jobs and products that want models without vendor-imposed refusals, where variable latency and uptime are acceptable.

What Amazon Bedrock and Dolphin do

Amazon Bedrock

Amazon Bedrock is AWS's managed model service and has become the default AI control plane for many enterprises. One API reaches 100+ models from 18+ providers, including Anthropic's Claude family up to Fable 5.1, Meta, Mistral, DeepSeek, Amazon's own Nova models, and, since a June 2026 launch under an expanded partnership, OpenAI models including the full GPT-6 family from Astra to Luna. Switching models is usually just a new model ID. Every call inherits IAM, PrivateLink, KMS encryption and CloudTrail logging, and provider models never train on customer data.

Example models: Claude Fable 5.1, GPT-6 Astra

Dolphin

Dolphin began in 2023 as Eric Hartford's series of open-source, uncensored fine-tunes, trained to drop the refusals and baked-in guidelines of their base models so that the developer sets the rules through the system prompt. Current releases include Dolphin Llama 3.1 8B and Dolphin Mistral 24B Venice Edition, built with Venice, and the project publishes nearly 100 models on Hugging Face. It also runs a chat app, a Telegram bot and a synthetic data service that generates answers to commonly refused prompts.

Example models: DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, Dolphin Mistral 24B
