GMI Cloud vs Inception: key differences

GMI Cloud runs NVIDIA hardware in its own data centers in the US, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia, with 45+ LLMs plus video, image and audio models on one API, and a path from shared endpoints to reserved H100 or H200 capacity. Inception's Mercury models generate many tokens in parallel. Mercury 2.5 offers reasoning, tool use and 260K context at $0.20 in and $0.75 out. Inception reports 1,100+ tokens per second; Artificial Analysis measures about 640.

Pick GMI Cloud for multimodal apps, APAC data residency or reserved capacity. Pick Inception when output speed drives the product, as in autocomplete or voice agents, and a cost-optimized model is smart enough for the task.

What GMI Cloud and Inception do

GMI Cloud

GMI Cloud is a vertically integrated GPU cloud and inference platform that owns its NVIDIA hardware. It runs Tier-4 data centers in Silicon Valley, Colorado, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia, and as an NVIDIA Cloud Partner it gets priority access to H100, H200, B200 and GB200 supply, with GB300 on pre-order. In March 2026 it announced a 1GW sovereign AI factory in Kagoshima, Japan. The company pivoted from crypto mining into AI, which gave it experience standing up high-density power and cooling fast. In September 2026 it raised $668M: a $223M Series B led by ARCHIV with NVIDIA participating, plus a $445M credit facility led by CTBC. It reports over $600M in contracted ARR and about 4T tokens a week on its inference platform.

Inception

Inception builds diffusion large language models (dLLMs). Every other LLM on this list generates text one token at a time; Inception's Mercury models start from a rough draft of a whole block and refine it over a few passes, producing many tokens in parallel. That ties speed less to output length and lets the models run fast on ordinary NVIDIA GPUs rather than custom chips. The company was founded by professors from Stanford, UCLA and Cornell behind core work on diffusion, Flash Attention and DPO, and is led by Stanford's Stefano Ermon. It raised a $50M seed in November 2025 led by Menlo Ventures, with Mayfield, M12, NVentures, Snowflake and Databricks, plus Andrew Ng and Andrej Karpathy as angels.
