What is GMI Cloud?
GMI Cloud is a vertically integrated GPU cloud and inference platform that owns its NVIDIA hardware. It runs Tier-4 data centers in Silicon Valley, Colorado, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia, and as an NVIDIA Cloud Partner it gets priority access to H100, H200 and B200 supply. The company pivoted from crypto mining into AI, which gave it experience standing up high-density power and cooling fast. An $82M Series A came from Headline, Wistron and Thai energy group Banpu.
The Inference Engine exposes 100+ models through an OpenAI-compatible API, spanning 45+ LLMs, 50+ video models, 25+ image models and 15+ audio models from providers like Google Veo, Kling, MiniMax and ElevenLabs. An in-house Cluster Engine runs near bare metal, which GMI says recovers the 10 to 15% overhead of standard cloud virtualization. Customers can start on shared endpoints, move to elastic autoscaling, then lock in reserved H100 or H200 capacity on the same API. Entry pricing is low, with GLM-4.7-Flash listed at $0.07 in and $0.40 out.
GMI Cloud pros, cons and use cases
Upsides
- APAC data residency through in-country facilities in Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia.
- One API for text, image, video and audio models.
- Owned hardware and near bare metal performance.
Core use cases
- Asia-Pacific companies that need inference kept in-region.
- Multimodal apps that want LLMs and video generation on one bill.
Downsides
- Much less developer mindshare and third-party benchmarking than US peers, so claims need your own testing.
- LLM catalog is smaller and less current than Together, Fireworks or DeepInfra.
